Your Safety Ensured
You would entrust yourself and your possessions without
qualms to a house with firm foundations. In a car too, safety measures
are of special importance. Following the basic principle, "safety
first," Mercedes-Benz engineers developed as the the stable foundation
of their cars the combined frame-floor unit which has proved its worth
a thousand times over. The enclosed and reinforced all-steel structure
of the frame-floor unit gives the car its extreme rigidity and complete
protection to the passengers. The frame-floor unit extends over the whole
length and width of the car. Welded onto the body to form a self-supporting
seamless whole, this extremely strong substructure is a guarantee of absolute
security.
A series of special designs combine to ensure the proverbial roadholding
quality and outstanding features of all Mercedes-Benz cars.
1. Frame-floor unit.
2. Independent front-wheel suspension with coil springs, telescopic shock
absorbers and torsion bar stabilizer guarantee stability on bends and excellent
resilience. The sub-frame makes for better driving and steering and facilitates
the servicing of the engine.
3. Steering is child's play, thanks to the Mercedes-Benz self-adjusting recirculating ball-type steering with its shock absorber.
4. With the Mercedes-Benz swing axle with low pivot point you are not dependent
on road conditions at any speed.
